Q: I am aware that in Scotland under certain circumstances pharmacists are permitted to change the prescribed quantity, if I supply a parallel imported pack of 30 Crestor tablets against a prescription for 28 will I be paid for 30 tablets?

A: No, you would be paid based on a pack size of 28. This is because the Scottish pricing authority (PSD) only refers to prices of UK licensed drugs.  As a consequence their system would not recognise a parallel import pack size of 30, and would base remuneration on the pack size of 28.

You could supply the 30 tablet pack but that would be at the pharmacist’s discretion.
