SSP083 Venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release tablet
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have issued a Serious Shortage Protocol (SSP) for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release tablet in response to a significant ongoing supply disruption.
The SSP will enable community pharmacies in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to supply patients with a different formulation as per the document below.
It allows Venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release capsules to be supplied against prescriptions for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release tablets. The pharmacist must exercise their professional judgement to ensure the alternative product is suitable for the patient.
SSP083 for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release tablets will be in operation from Monday 23rd June 2025 until Friday 1st August 2025
Please note that the SSP may be amended or revoked at any time, so contractors must ensure that the SSP is still valid before each supply.
