SSP071 Ramipril 2.5mg Tablets
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a Serious Shortage Protocol for Ramipril 2.5mg tablets in response to a significant ongoing supply disruption.
This SSP will enable community pharmacists in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to supply patients with a different formulation as per the document below.
It allows Ramipril 2.5mg capsules to be supplied against prescriptions for Ramipril 2.5mg tablets with the total quantity to be equivalent to the number of days prescribed on the original prescription. The pharmacist must exercise their professional judgement to ensure the alternative product is suitable for the patient. The pharmacist will need to ensure that the patient/carer is aware that the capsule form of Ramipril may contain gelatine, this can be confirmed by checking the patient information leaflet or summary product characteristics.
SSP071 for Ramipril 2.5mg tablets will be in operation from Tuesday 6th August 2024 until Friday 29th November 2024 (updated expiry).
Please note that the SSP may be amended or revoked at any time, so contractors must ensure that the SSP is still valid before each supply.
