Numark & Buttercups Levy Gifting

Big news! Our fully funded pharmacy technician apprenticeship training is back!

We’re delighted to announce the return of the levy gifting in collaboration with Buttercups Training and the PHOENIX Group!

Back in January, we announced our apprenticeship levy gifting initiative to support our members in England with fully funded apprenticeship training for pharmacy technicians. The level of interest was unprecedented, and in just one hour, over 50 of our valued members seized this exciting opportunity, and by the end of the day, registrations soared, with all available spaces being fully booked within the first hour of the announcement being made!

This demonstrated the value of developing the workforce and the importance of making funding available to support our members.

In the months that followed, Buttercups worked with individual Numark members to enrol learners on the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme (Apprenticeship Pathway) supported by half a million pounds of funding from large organisations.

Buttercups and the social impact team at their parent group, the BPP Education Group, have sourced additional funding to support the next phase of this initiative.

What is Levy Gifting?

Large organisations like PHOENIX pay into a special fund called an apprenticeship levy, designed to support apprenticeship training programmes. They can share up to 50% of their levy to fund apprenticeship for smaller organisations. Building on the first round of funding, PHOENIX and the BPP social impact team aim to share an additional £500,000 aiming to gift a total of £1 million to train pharmacy technicians at our member pharmacies.

NHS England Community Pharmacy Technician Programme

Numark members who applied for NHS England funding as part of their community pharmacy technician programme, can apply for a levy gift, whether their application for NHS funding is successful or not.

Successful applications will receive their payment of £15,053 per year for the two years the apprentice is on programme from NHS England. By applying for an additional levy gift via this campaign, the programme fees will be funded.

Numark members who either didn’t apply for NHS England funding, or were unsuccessful with their application, can still apply for a levy gift, covering the cost of the apprenticeship programme fees.

Numark Chairman, Professor Harry McQuillan shares his excitement:

“The pharmacy technician workforce is critical to community pharmacy’s future success and to support this Numark has again teamed up with Buttercups to make available fully funded training places through our innovative use of apprenticeship levy gifting. To be able to provide a second round of fully funded places to our members is fantastic and meets everything that Numark stands for.”

Numark Chairman Professor Harry McQuillan gives his insight into our second levy gifting initiative for Numark members in England.
