Numark & Buttercups Levy Gifting

Fully funded training opportunity for Numark members in England

We're teaming up with Buttercups Training to solve one of the biggest challenges facing community pharmacies: finding and keeping great staff.  This innovative partnership introduces "levy gifting," a ground-breaking idea that will help pharmacy owners train new pharmacy technicians and build a stronger workforce.

What is levy gifting?

Imagine this: big businesses like PHOENIX pay into a special fund, called an apprenticeship levy, designed to support training programmes. They can share up to 50% of their levy to fund apprenticeships for smaller organisations.

Our new plan utilises a combination of funds from PHOENIX and the BPP Social Impact Fund, aiming to share a whopping £500,000 to train people at our member pharmacies. Buttercups Training will be the glue, connecting Numark members to the training programmes they need.

The game changer

Our focus is the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme (PTTP) Apprenticeship. This isn't just any training—it’s on-the-job training for one of the most in-demand roles in pharmacies today. It’s perfect for current dispensing assistants who are ready to advance their careers and step up to become pharmacy technicians.

Why you should be excited

  • Many pharmacies are struggling to find enough trained staff, especially pharmacy technicians.
  • This programme ensures that levy funds are used effectively, preventing them from being reallocated.
  • While younger candidates (21 and under) traditionally get fully funded training, this initiative extends free training to all eligible candidates.
  • More trained pharmacy technicians mean better service and stronger community pharmacies.

Beyond workforce solutions

This initiative is not just about solving a staffing issue; it’s about investing in the future of smaller businesses, fostering growth, and sustaining the industry.

With NHS England's Community Pharmacy Technician Programme being oversubscribed, this new opportunity is a golden ticket for you, for securing training funding and support for your teams.
