Introducing Hana - 75 microgram film coated tablets

Hana is progestogen-only oral contraceptive pill (POP) that has launched new to the market as a Pharmacy only medication which contains the progestogen desogestrel.

Hana can be purchased over the counter, without a prescription and is available to women of childbearing age wanting to prevent pregnancy.

Pharmacists have a key role to play in the supply of Hana and assess if the product is suitable for each woman.  In order to support you, there is specific Hana training that is available to all UK pharmacies. The training is aimed at pharmacists to build up knowledge of the product in order to make confident recommendations and give appropriate advice/information. The training is split into three parts to support your conversations. You will be assessed on all three parts and this can be used to support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
