Three new SSPs issued HRT products
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued three Serious Shortage Protocols for Hormone Replacement Therapies in response to a significant ongoing supply disruption.
SSP019 |
Oestrogel Pump-Pack 0.06% gel |
SSP020 |
Ovestin 1mg Cream |
SSP021 |
Premique Low Dose 0.3mg/1.5mg MR tablets |
It allows no more than three months’ supply to be supplied against prescriptions for the above products when written, either by brand or generically, on both NHS and private prescriptions.
All three SSPs will be in operation from Friday 29th April 2022 until Friday 29th July 2022.
Please note that the SSP may be amended or revoked at any time, so contractors must ensure that the SSP is still valid before each supply.
In accordance with an SSP for a reduced quantity, if the patient normally pays for their prescriptions, no prescription charge is payable for the reduced quantity supply. This only applies to prescriptions that are for more than three months’ supply, and prescriptions for an amount less than or equivalent to three months’ supply should be dispensed as usual and if the patient pays for their prescriptions, the usual patient charges will still apply.
