Changes to Ministry of Defence Prescriptions

Starting in early 2026, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) will introduce paper FP10 prescription forms for all outsourced prescriptions issued by MOD medical facilities.

These prescriptions, which represent a small proportion of total activity, will be reimbursed directly by the MOD rather than through the global sum.

Initially, the new system will be implemented at six MOD sites along with their usual outsourcing pharmacies:

  • Leeming Medical Centre – North Yorkshire (DL7 9NJ)
  • Abbeywood Medical Centre – Avon (BS34 8JH)
  • Cottesmore Combined Medical Practice – Rutland (LE15 7BL)
  • Shropshire Combined Medical Practice – Wolverhampton (WV7 3EX)
  • Odiham Medical Centre – Hampshire (RG29 1QT)
  • Culdrose Combined Medical Practice – Cornwall (TR12 7RH)

Previously MOD prescriptions were issued on a military FMed 269 form which could only be dispensed at the outsourced pharmacies.

This change will allow any NHS contracted pharmacy to dispense MOD prescriptions. Pharmacy contractors should ensure their teams are ready to handle paper FP10s in accordance with standard NHS procedures when the time comes.

If the military personnel pays for the prescription they will need to be issued with a till receipt (rather than an FP57 form) as they will need claim a refund directly with the MOD, not from the NHS.
