Urgent Safety Notice: FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensors
Abbott has identified an issue affecting certain FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensors. This does not impact other Libre sensors, apps, or readers available in the UK.
What’s the issue?
Some sensors may provide incorrect low glucose readings, which could lead to inappropriate treatment decisions such as unnecessary carbohydrate intake or missed insulin doses. These actions may pose serious health risks.
What should you do?
- Inform your customers
Customers should visit www.FreeStyleCheck.com or call Abbott Customer Service (0800 170 11 77) to confirm if their sensors are affected. If a sensor is confirmed as impacted, they should discontinue use and dispose of it safely. Customers can request a free replacement via www.FreeStyleCheck.com.
- Verify your pharmacy stock
Check your inventory at www.FreeStyleCheck.com. Abbott will replace impacted stock and have asked you to destroy the potentially affected sensors
