Patient Safety Update: Use of Valproates in Males
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published a drug safety update for Valproate use in men, adding in some additional measures to the previous update published in December 2022.
A retrospective observational study has indicated a possible association between valproate use by men around the time of conception and an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders in their children.
As a result, changes will be made to the product information available online.
