Discontinuation of Flixonase Nasule Drops® 400mcg

GSK is planning to discontinue Flixonase (fluticasone propionate) Nasule 400 micrograms (1 mg/ml) Nasal Drops Suspension in the UK due to the closure of its manufacturing site. They plan to make this discontinuation phased. Limited stock may remain available in the market until December 2023 and pharmacies should be able to place orders through their normal wholesale routes.

Flixonase Nasule Drops® are indicated for the regular treatment of nasal polyps and associated symptoms of nasal obstruction. Patients will need to be referred back to their clinician for an alternative steroid nasal drop such as betamethasone.

Flixonase Nasules® are sometimes prescribed off-licence in secondary care as a mouthwash in the treatment of oral mucosal lesions. Alternatives to this to consider would be hydrocortisone muco-adhesive buccal tablets or betamethasone soluble tablets which can be used off-licence as a mouthwash.
